Dilan 1990: A Movie That Can Make Teenagers and Adult "Baper"
By: Tazkiyatul Amaliah
The movie is based on a famous novel by Pidi Baiq's "Dilan 1990". This movie that is anticipated by many fans especially for readers who have read the novel certainly has high expectations for acting from the players, especially “Dilan” as the main character in this movie. But in reality, this movie does not give satisfaction to the audience, especially those who have read the novel.
The movie played by Iqbal Ramadhan as Dilan turns out not to be fully in accordance with the character of Dilan in the novel. Dilan, who was known as a naughty, romantic and "tukang gombal" but Iqbaal did not fully show his character as a naughty boy, however Iqbal was able to portray Dilans character that was very romantic.
Besides that, the setting of Dilans movie that should have made the audience nostalgic with the atmosphere of the 1990s turned out to be a movie that was presented unlike the atmosphere of the 1990s. The atmosphere in this movie is more fresh and modern. Vanesha hairstyle that plays a role Milea figures is also not suitable with the hair style of the 1990s.
Moreover, in terms of acting and setting in the film, there is an inappropriate negative side because in Dilans film character shows disrespect to the employee in his school and always brawl or fight.
Although this movie has some flaws but it is able to make teenagers and adults be "baper" because Dilan is always throwing sweet words and being romantic. Here are the sweet words or "gombal" thrown for Milea:
1. Don't miss, miss is heavy, just let me.
2. You're beautiful but I don't love you yet. But I don't know in the afternoon. Just wait
3. Don't tell me if someone hurt you because tomorrow he will disappear.
4. Jealousy is only for people who are not confident and now I'm not confident.
Those words can make some teenagers and adults feel "baper" when watching this movie.
